Call for nominations to the Steering Group
You’re a member of the SDS because you work in the field and/or are passionate about the disciplines we represent. You are keen to keep up to date with latest developments and network with your peers but see opportunities for the SDS to do more for members or even the sector as whole. Alternatively, you may have some great ideas for SDS events and talks. If that sounds like you and you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done, we’d love to hear from you.
More about the SDS Steering Group (SG)
The programme and strategic priorities of The Society are overseen by a small number of members, who volunteer their time and energy to develop and take ideas forward. Each member takes responsibility for leading a particular focus area or project, supported by Kate, our part-time administrator. See the website for more details about the current Steering Group and the SDS Articles of Association.
We tend to meet twice a year, usually on a Saturday, to set objectives and review progress, communicating via email and shared folders in between. We fully appreciate that SG members have to juggle work, home and social commitments as well, so have realistic expectations about what we can achieve.
If you’d like to find out more, please contact the current chair Sian Kelly.
Alternatively, if you’re ready to take the plunge please send through your details (short bio, current role, experience and how or where you would like to focus your efforts – this could be a very tightly defined project-based activity) by Thursday, 4 July 2019.
We’re keen that the composition of the SG reflects the membership, with a balance of experience, market sectors and disciplines represented. The intention is to put nominations to the vote at the AGM and appoint at least one new member. We reserve the right to appoint none if the interest area is already covered or adequately represented.
It goes without saying that you need to be a fully paid up member of the SDS (or work for an organisation with a corporate or institutional membership) to be considered.
