Aena launches map app to enhance the passenger experience inside its airports

Spanish airport management company Aena has partnered with Telefonica to launch AENAmaps (iOS & Android), a map-based interactive guide designed to help passengers manage all stages of their journeys from, to and through the company’s airports.

From planning a journey to the flight itself, the app particularly focuses on enabling travellers using the company’s airports to navigate their way around indoors, from finding specific services and points of interest (e.g. restaurants, shops and boarding gates) in the airport to calculating journey times and/or distance. The app will be integrated with other location tools outside the airport to provide a complete route from anywhere.

Access to AENAmap will be rolled out for use initially at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and then to other regional airports within the AENA network in the near future. The company is also planning to gradually evolve the tool to help passengers with reduced mobility and cater for accessibility needs.
