Outdoor adventure wayfinding
Find out more about outdoor adventuring and the maps that help keep adventurers safe when exploring. Outdoor activities should be fun but can be dangerous! Over-reliance on smartphone-based mapping and guidance, coupled with lesser knowledge of traditional compass and map navigation skills put people at risk when they are enjoying the great outdoors. Join us to find out more about the work of the recently set up RIN Outdoor Adventure Navigation Special Interest Group, and how we can promote better outdoor navigational practices and design wayfinding information and technology for different kinds of outdoor adventure activity.

Smart inclusive wayfinding: Is Waymap the solution for mobility and independence for all?
How do people with vision impairments find their way? Julian Jackson (VisionBridge) and Ethan Brooks (Waymap) explore how technology can be created to assist people with vision impairments find their way, providing them with the information that they are unable to otherwise access due to their limited sight. Julian and Tom discuss their involvement in making assistive technology that works, with a focus on the Waymap app.
